• Watch out for the BOMC (book of the month club) acronym on the flaps of book club dust jackets
• watch out for FEL on books and covers (First Edition Library), a club that makes facsimile first edition books
• Laid-in review slips or brochure
• five-digit code, typically black numbers in white background small box, which appears on the back of the dust jacket
BOOK-OF-THE-MONTH-CLUB – includes History Book Club, Quality Paperback Book Club, Money Book Club. Also indicated by a blind-stamped dot on the back cover.
A. L. BURT – Published from 1883 until 1937. In 1915 began buying reprint rights from other publishing houses. As a result, copies from the first printing of A.L. Burt’s edition of Tarzan of the Apes, the first novel in the series, are notably sought after by collectors. Also, published first US edition of P. G. Wodehouse Man with Two Left Feet

LIMITED EDITION CLUB (LEC) are highly collectible. LEC books are printed in limited quantities, are signed and individually numbered, and can be of considerable value.
LITERARY GUILD – inferior quality, dust jackets duller than original publisher’s. Minus a dust jacket, always check the title page and spine of the book for the words “Literary Guild.”
